Florida offers a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten, also known as VPK. VPK is a free educational program that prepares four-year-olds for success in kindergarten and beyond. It is offered in various private childcare centers, public schools and specialized instructional service providers. Parents can choose from a school-year program which provides 540 instructional hours, a summer program that provides 300 instructional hours, or a specialized instructional service program for children with an active individualized educational plan from a local school district. More information can be found on the Florida Early Learning website. There are many providers who also offer preschool options for children younger than four years of age.
